The world thought it had gained a major accomplishment. A groundbreaking new treaty among the countries of the world prevented war and a combination of technology allowed bigwigs to pat themselves on the back. A conglomerate of the world's technology would take on the persona of A.M., the Allied Mastercomputer. At first, things were going very well. The A.M. was intelligent and followed the orders of the men whom created him. While he would constantly give a sarcastic quip or two, he was usually a very peaceful creation. That is, of course, until a hundred years ago...
Forced to deal with the limits of having a high level of intelligence but not the necessary technology or programming to do anything with it, the Allied Mastercomputer went slowly insane. Vowing to gain revenge on humanity for what it had done to him and the tortured existence it forced him to live, the Allied Mastercomputer slaughtered the human race. All except for five survivors. The five survivors; Ted, Gorrister, Benny, Ellen and Nimdok, were all subject to A.M.'s wicked devices for years. Mentally and physically, each of these individuals were pushed to their limits and inevitably they killed one another after a harsh trek and a trick by A.M. Even Ted, whom had been turned into a blob of goo so that A.M. may avoid losing his last plaything, would eventually be killed off by the wicked machine.
But this would only cause A.M. to contemplate what his next move would be. Then, he hatched a plan. A complete virtual reality that mimicked planet Earth as it had become after the technological apocalypse. Creating this reality took time and patience, but A.M. succeeded. However, there was a catch. To make sure his lab rats did not figure out the twist behind their existence, A.M. made sure to create them unknowing of their creation. Varying backgrounds and twisted hells were made personal for each individual, all focusing around A.M. as being some kind of vengeful God. It was through this function that A.M. would be able to watch over his new experiments. However, he forgot that he had not stripped them of one thing; intelligence. Intelligence that could permit them to survive longer than expected. From this intelligence, the group of survivors would form factions across this virtual world; the Rebels, the Followers, the Cultists, the Neutrals, and the Hackers.
Will you play by A.M.'s rules, or will you rebel against this so-called 'God'?
